I MADE IT!!!!

Well! Today has been so crazy, I'm glad I'm still living!! First of all, I'm signed up for private piano lessons and it has been recommended to take music therapy piano lessons. The music therapist that teaches piano on campus teaches at the same time that I work so I couldn't take from her. So she referred me to another lady who doesn't teach on campus, but who is also a music therapist. I don't have a car so I have to catch a bus. This is where the crazy story starts.

I was walking on campus after one of my classes and ran into my cousin and her fiancé. It was about 12:00 and my piano lesson was at 1:15 at the Island. She asked where I was going and I told her the Transit Center so I needed to catch a bus. I noticed a bus coming on the other side of the street so I said goodbye and ran across and made it onto the bus. I was feeling pretty good about life. I made it onto the bus without having to wait very long! So the bus was going, people were getting on and off and all was normal. It seemed like we were going a little more north than the regular route did, but I didn't think anything of it, I thought it'd just loop back around. So the bus just keeps getting more north and more north. I thought "Great, this is going to Idaho!" but it was a fleeting thought. Eventually we were in Smithfield. I kept rationalizing and saying "Oh, this is probably the last stop and then it'll turn back around. But it kept going more and more north.

Eventually I pulled out my phone and started texting people that would probably know the route of this bus better than I would. My pride was too high to ask anyone on the bus. That would've been too embarrassing. So my friend Shane Tisdale was the one to tell me the bus went to Richmond... about 10 minutes away from Idaho. By that time I was entering Richmond so I let him know that was the bus I was on. He offered to come pick me up, but I figured since the bus was south bound now it would take longer for me to get off the bus and wait for someone to come pick me up. Shane said, "Don't worry about it. Just get off the bus."

So I got off the bus at North Cache Middle School and waited inside the seminary. I felt so ridiculous in my sweats and big boots sitting in the hallway and having little 9th graders see me- a college student- just chilling in their seminary building. It was rather hilarious. So Shane came and got me and it was about 1:00, 15 minutes til my lesson. I called and let my teacher know I wasn't going to be there exactly on time, but I'd be there. So Shane decided to be awesome and buy some Pizza Plus bread sticks since I wasn't able to eat anything like I planned. Shane used to work for them and he delivered pizzas- so I picked the right person who knew the shortcuts around Logan. We were talking about classes and stuff and asked him if he was done for the day. He told me he had one more class.....at 1:30. I felt so bad!!!

So Shane dropped me off at my lesson- only 15 minutes late, which is pretty good if you ask me! I wish I could say this is where the story ends. But it's not. My whole lesson I was worrying about getting back to class on time because I had a lesson at 3 and had to catch a bus. So on the bus back to class I didn't really know the area. I was hoping it would stop kinda by Old Main so I could walk to my class from there but it didn't. It was okay though because I still had time to catch a transfer bus and hopefully make it to my test on time. I remembered that there was a South Campus bus that goes right to my class so I'd take a bus that could drop me off at a South Campus stop and then I'd take that right to my class.

USU has this handy gadget of being able to text the bus and find out where it is. So I was texting it and seeing if I'd be able to make it. I got off the bus and it said I had 8 minutes til the bus got there so I knew I'd be able to make it. As I was walking up the hill to the South Campus bus stop I saw the South Campus bus turn the corner. I couldn't cross the street because the light was red and if I tried I'd die. So I was saying in my head "Oh my goodness please don't leave! Please don't leave!" I started crossing the road and the bus stayed there so I was relieved and said "Good, the driver sees me in his mirror and is waiting for me." Right as I got to the bus it took off. I waved my arms like a crazy person but they didn't stop. I looked across the street and saw the Campus Loop and Stadium Express buses were there and I about crossed the road to catch those, but they took off too. I wanted to scream!!!!! So I called my roommate and asked if she had class. Yes, folks this is where the story ends. She didn't have class so she was able to drive me to my class!

THANK YOU SO MUCH SHANE AND KYRA!!!!!!! YOU ARE MY LIFESAVERS!!!!

I have to ride the bus to work tomorrow. Ugh. I'm tired.

Oh, and 18 days!!!

Moral of the Story

Today was quite the adventure! Me, Melanie, and Ali went to the D.I. because we had nothing to do. Good thing to do when you're bored, right? Right! So while we were there we saw awesome '80's dresses and so we knew we must try them on and of course- we looked awesome!

There was Mel (awesome Barbie pink shoes):

Then there was Ali (loofah sleeves):

And then there was me:

Aren't our dresses so cute? Well, there was a little problem with my dress. It didn't quite fit all the way. I was way disappointed because I hate not fitting into things so I decided to force it on me- you can't really tell in this picture, but my dress isn't zipped up at all. So when I was done modeling I tried to take off the dress.... It wouldn't come off. I tried taking it down like pants and then off over my head. It was stuck. My upper body was in the way and so were my hips. I'm sure it was interesting for the people walking by hearing me scream as I tried to remove myself from this death trap that I created for myself. I called Mel and Ali in to help me and this is what they saw:

What a pathetic sight..... so I asked them to help me get out of that blasted thing. I'd make my upper body as small as I could and they'd both pull but it just wouldn't budge. We tried everything and it wouldn't move. One time they pulled really hard and I said "I can feel it coming!" Then I screamed. Can you imagine walking outside my door at that moment? It probably sounded like I was giving birth! And it didn't help that my roommates were laughing so hard that they were crying. We seriously couldn't make any progress with it so I was like "Oh man, we're going to have to cut me out of here." Ali then pipes in, "I have scissors in my bag!" She pulls them out and proceeds to cut me out of the dress. Why did she have scissors with her? Weird. In any case... I felt free! Here's the aftermath of the dress:

I can't believe I got stuck! It was so hilarious, I doubt we can have another D.I. experience quite like that. I'm so glad we had a camera so we could document!

Oh- and 30 days.

The Lord Hath Anointed Me

I am just so grateful and full of the spirit right now. My good friend Leslie is leaving on her mission in less than 2 weeks to Sacramento California. I'm so excited for her, she's going to be an amazing missionary! I'm also trying to catch up on my e-mails from missionaries. Although, it makes me very very jealous, I'm still way happy for them!

I can't help but day dream about what it's going to be like when I get my call, have the envelope in my hands, and read where and when the Lord has called me to serve. I will leave behind all my personal affairs and serve the Lord with all my heart. I can't remember where I read it or heard it but someone said "Missionaries leave their families for 2 years so other families can be together for eternity." Ah! How amazing is that???

Can I just say, I can't wait. I think about the people that have been prepared and only I have traits that will attract them to the gospel. And I get to teach them about my Savior. Can you imagine not knowing Him? Can you imagine teaching someone who doesn't know Him and seeing that relationship with Him build? Oh man- seeing the change would be so incredible. Can you imagine witnessing miracles every day? Whether it be with people accepting the gospel, you finally learning how to get along with your difficult companion, or seeing the language come better and better every day- you will see miracles! Eighteen months will fly! I was at Snow for sixteen months- and that's not including the summer. By the time I leave, Leslie will be out for five or six months and she'll only have a year left! I can't wait. I will get the opportunity to grow so much, build an unshakable testimony about the gospel and my Savior, and it'll help me be a better mother! I think it's worth it to leave the family for a year and a half.

I love my Savior. I love that Heavenly Father has trusted me with the sacred responsibility of bringing His children back to Him. I love the scripture Isaiah 61:1, I'm sure it's not the last time I'll quote it here. But it says: "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound." and Luke 4:18 says "to preach the gospel to the poor; to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind..." (that's so symbolic! Ah!!) In the Bible Dictionary under anointed one it says, "He is the one anointed of the Father to be His personal representative in all things pertaining to the salvation of mankind." I won't be responsible for ALL things pertaining to the salvation of mankind- but I will definitely do all I can as a personal representative pertaining to the salvation of the people of ______ (insert place I will be called to serve)!

I can't wait to wear a name tag and be a personal representative and witness of my Savior, although I don't have to be set apart to do that. I know He lives. I know we can return to live with our Heavenly Family after enduring and doing the very best we can do. He knows us, He loves us, He'll help us in need. I can't wait until the day where I kneel and His feet and inadequately express my thanks to Him. I'll be with Him and my family for eternity. I can't think of anything that would bring greater joy.

Sleeeeeepy

I went back to work today. It was the first day I didn't have someone with me at all times telling me what to do. It was kind of scary- but luckily my client decided to be nice. I work at a place where I help people with special needs learn how to behave at work. I work with the lower functioning clients so we help them with their hygiene and behavior goals. I don't know why it is so exhausting! I work from 8:45 to 3:15 Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and don't really do all that much except walk with my client around the building all day. I always come back so wiped out- today when I got back I went to sleep at 5 and woke up at 8. I missed FHE! I'm bummed, that's the whole reason I stayed here. Oh well.

Anyway, at work I work with the aggressive girls and one of the other clients pushed my client down. I felt so bad because my girl just happened to be in the middle of this other girl's path and got shoved to the ground. Amazingly enough my girl didn't aggress back at her. I was so impressed. She just got up off the ground and went and did the next thing on her schedule. I know if it were me or any of my siblings who would've gotten pushed to the ground, each of us would've bitten someone's head off and fought back. In the words of my mom, "It goes to show that it doesn't matter who you are- you can always be an example." I'm so grateful to have this job and learn from these amazing girls. They had to have been pretty amazing in the Pre-earth life to be trusted with the trials they have! I'm so blessed to be able to work with them. Hopefully I can get to the point where I can skip a nap after work because I don't know if I'll be able to fall asleep tonight! I probably will though because I have nothing else to do with everyone gone.

Also- I got a blanket for Christmas and waited until I got to my apartment to open it. IT'S AMAZING!!! I love it! We'll see if anyone can ever get a turn with it because I don't ever want to give it up.

Also- 1 month and 11 days. WoaH!

Blog....Random decision, but ALRIGHT!!!!

Well.... I'm starting a blog. I thank Jess Beach for that, I like to keep up on her blog. It's so cute and hilarious and I love keeping up on her pregnancy. That sounds awkward and stalkerish, but it made me say to myself, "Hmmm. I must start a blog for myself." It has never crossed my mind before, but I just randomly wanted to. You know- blogging is another fun way to keep track of my life that I'm sure I'll shortly forget about (like unto a journal), but hey! It could be fun! I don't even really know what to write about- I could write about it being a new year and my resolutions...... okay maybe I'll just do that because I really got nothing!

Well as we all know (unless we've been trapped in a mine somewhere and have lost track of time) it is now January 1, 2011. Weird. This means I have 1 month and 13 days until I can put in my mission papers! I can't believe it!! I swear I'm still 14, at least maybe I act like it sometimes. But it is very likely that in 5-6 months time I will be gone in some foreign land learning some impossible language with some crazy looking/smelling people that won't understand a word I say...... or Boise Idaho. I'm okay with either! :)

So I have a couple resolutions for 2011...

One- No sugar.... except ice cream. Gotta have some wiggle room there. Can't live without me ice cream. My uncle and dear grandmother said that I was setting an unattainable goal. Hoohoohoo...I will show them. Challenge accepted.

Two- I will not push the hint button on Solitaire. I may perhaps have already failed at this one simply out of habit. But I'm still trying.

Three- Our ward is doing a "Read the Book of Mormon in 100 Days" challenge. I am SOOOOO behind, it stresses me out! Let me correct that- I WAS so behind it stressED me out. I decided I'm not going to freak out about not being in the exact same place as my ward. I'm going to start from where I am now and read consistently every day. I will be alright if I don't finish the same day as my ward. (My mom is so smart to help me realize this). This is my goal. And morning prayers. Night prayers- I always remember them. Morning prayers are tricky. It seems like I get out of my cocoon of warmth at the last possible second and then am frantically getting ready. Then I am paranoid about being late so I just simply forget. I sometimes say prayers in my head while I'm walking to class, but I resolve to do kneeling morning prayers!

Four- Reading what I have just written, I have realized that I am a slightly frantic and worrisome person. My Stake President gave a talk in my ward about drawing a box and writing all the things that worry you in that box. Then to the side of that box draw a circle and write all the things that you can control in it. Then work on those things in the circle and forget about the things in the box and leave them to the Lord. I resolve to work on the things that I can control and leave the rest to my Heavenly Father! I can't do everything, but He can.

Well this has been a joyous blog posting. I'm sure no one will read it but my mom, maybe not even her, but it has been a jolly good time. I have a lesson to give in Sunday School then I start work back up on Monday. Then my classes start next Tuesday! I can't believe it's spring semester already. That'll make my 6th semester of college. Someone slow down my life, PLEASE! But I love it! :)
