Hello family!
This week has been so wonderful. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to be a missionary. Apparently an elder from a different zone said to one of our sisters "at least you only have to be out for 18 months" and we're all thinking "you elders are so lucky that you get to be out for 2 years" because this really is such a huge amazing opportunity and blessing and I love being here so much. I grow closer to my Heavenly Father and Savior and I feel their love for the people around me. I can't wait to go to Germany.
Which is why my e-mail is titled surprise. We just found out last Wednesday that we're going to Germany a week earlier than planned. Meaning, 2 weeks from this exact moment (August 29th) I will be on my way to good ol' Deutschland! I'm SOOOO excited. and kinda nervous. BUT MOSTLY EXCITED! We get our travel plans this week. It is totally nuts!! But yeah! Thought you'd all love to know that!
Sister McCappin's mom is in the hospital because she has some sort of internal bleeding and they can't find out where its coming from. Please keep her in your prayers. She called home and while I was waiting in the waiting room for her there was an elder waiting for his companion and he said he came in Wednesday and his companion didn't show up so they put him in a drit, then his companion showed up a couple days later so they were in a 4, then split into regular companionships then this elder that showed up late was on the phone wanting to go home. It's so sad that he felt like he couldn't do this. I know that the MTC is new and a lot of information at one time, but I know that we can do this because the Lord is helping us. I see fortschritt every day. It's awesome! But yeah, DON'T GIVE UP ON ANYTHING! The Lord will help you do it. Also random side note, Sister McCappin is friends with the smiling guy from General Conference. Crazy huh!
Our Elders have a NEW banana obsession and that is to squish it inside the peel and chuck it around til it explodes. I was a little worried that it would hit me an explode on me, so I threw it away. The elders gave me a really hard time about that and this morning I got a banana for breakfast and when I wasn't paying attention they switched it with one of their nasty squishy bananas. Those darn elders. I love 'em.
Tuesday Sister McCappin will be saying a prayer in the devotional. We're hoping President Uchtdorf speaks... But probably not. But that would be amazing cuz I have to sit on the stand with her when she says the prayer!! Either way, I get to meet whoever speaks.
Thanks for the e-mail grandpa! Yeah, less than a month I'll be in Germany! It's nuts!! I'm so excited!
So, about the health clinic- I want to clarify that my knee is feeling FINE. It hasn't bothered me at all, I just went to the clinic to see if there was anything I could do to prevent injuries in field and they went a little crazy and want me to see an Orthopedic i guess... so sorry about that. Don't worry, my knee is doing great. On the other hand I was walking and taking a picture with another sister and we didn't realize there was a curb there so we both tripped. We have the picture of us tripping and it's hilarious. I love it.
So yeah dad! You're right, I am an old-timer here! The sisters in our zone just older than us left and it's totally nuts cuz we're the oldest and get to be the mommies for a little while! I can't believe we've been here that long.
That's so amazing that Jeff and Deej got ordained the same day! I can't believe Jeff has the Melchezid...i can't spell it... priesthood! That's so amazing! That's fun that you all had a girls night out! That sounds like it was a blast! I can't really see the sky here at the MTC cuz even when we're walking around outside from building to building there's an over head thing covering up the sky in case of bad weather i'm guessing. Sarah and Rachel I'm SO glad you are okay from that car accident! I'm sorry you're hurt Sarah, but am so glad it's not worse!
Congrats on the soon-to-be wedding Bruce and Amanda! Send me pictures!
Today I went to the temple and one of the sisters pronounced my name "Newbirthall" Never heard that one....
I'm singing on church sunday! Yay! It's exciting...but I don't know what I'm singing yet. But I'm excited to be able to do that!
I was surprised to hear you didn't enjoy your MTC experience Dad, but I can see how it would be hard to be companions with someone that doesn't want to be their and only are there because they're commanded to be. I can't believe he went to a dance at BYU! You'd so get kicked out of the MTC if you did that now. That sounds like such a good idea to have a prayer closet. Some prayer time alone would be very nice! Don't worry, you've told me some stories, but not a whole lot. I've really enjoyed the ones you've told! The German is coming really nicely. Thanks for being willing to send a picture book. I don't know how long it takes for it to get here, but if it's longer than 2 weeks you may want to post pone. THanks so much!
Mom, I have seen Caitlin Payne in passing. She seems to be doing great! I'm glad that our Brittish elder stood out to you and I'll definitely tell him you've got the accent down. I can't remember anything about So You Think You Can Dance, but I'm glad you enjoyed this season. I'm also glad you are feeling much better about teaching 6th grade! I know you'll be excellent!! I know that! Also, I hope you lit a fire in that Mesa sister's heart. It's so sad to see people that are here for the wrong reasons and not to serve their King! I'm so grateful for grandma being so willing to help out! Tell her thanks a bazillion (in those words exactly) or if I see her, I'll tell her.
I'm sad Jeff and dad didn't take a picture of their goatees, but oh well. I'll just imagine dad as Jack Sparrow. Cute. I'm excited that Jeff will probably hopefully get his papers in this week. But kinda bummed cuz I'll have to wait to hear where he's going cuz I won't be here to get a dearelder. I don't think. If I'm still here dearelder me when you get your call!! EXCITING!! Read PMG and know it!! I regret not having done that!!! I can't believe you're going to college. You'll love it so much. Keep me up to date on that. That's nuts.
I'm out of time, but I love you and I know this church is true. I know without a doubt that the Savior loves me and Heavenly Father is helping me so so much here. I know that this gospel brings peace and we should share it whenever we can. What is there to be ashamed of! I Love you all! Hope you continue to be well! Moroni 8:3!
Sister Niebergall
